Yum Crawbug

Yum Crawbug

The YUM "Crawbug" is a super realistic soft plastic craw imitation for finesse applications. Its extreme realism and subtle action make it well suited for sluggish cold water bass, finicky pressured bass, or clear water conditions. The Crawbug separates itself from comparable baits, such as Zoom's speed craw, in that it is extremely detailed, down to the dimples on the pinchers. The bait comes in 9 different colors and two size options: 2.5" and 3.25".

Applications

The Crawbug can be rigged and fished many different ways.
  • Shaky Head
  • Wobble Head
  • Jig Trailer
  • Drop Shot
  • Jig Head
  • Texas Rig
  • Other
Shaky Head
The Crawbug pairs well with a small shaky head. This is a great technique for finicky bass, especially in crawfish heavy lakes and rivers.
Wobble Head
Similar to the Shaky head, the wobble head is a great finesse technique. This rig allows for the crawbug to "swing" freely and orient itself upward in a "defensive posture". A lot of times this is enough to cause a strike.

Jig Trailer
The Crawbug can be used as a finesse jig trailer. Its small size a limited action make it better suited for small jigs fished slowly. Many times this type of trailer is better in the winter when bass prefer a slow moving, subtle trailer.
Drop shot
While not a conventional drop shot bait, the Crawbug can be used in a pinch. The fact that the bait floats gives is a good, horizontal orientation when used on a drop shot rig.
Jig Head
The Crawbug,  like many other craw-tubes is hollow. This allows you to use a tube jig head inside of the bait itself. This is a common rig for smallmouth bass in northern waters.
Texas rig
A small, more finesse type Texas rig is often a great summer bait. The Craw bug can be Texas rigged but a small hook and bullet sinker must be used, especially for the smaller 2.5" size.

YUM's Crawbug is definitely worth trying. Its small size and limited action make it a poor choice for dirty water, especially if fished alone (on a shaky head etc.) as it moves little water and doesn't have a big silhouette but it's especially valuable for finesse applications
